Karen Maud
Karen Maud holds a bachelor of science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Virginia Tech and a master of science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University. She started her career in General Electrict’s prestigious Edison Engineering Development Program and has remained with GE Power for more than a decade, focusing on industrial gas turbine engineering.
Maud has held a range of positions in the company, from conceptual design to repair process development. She has received several internal awards for her engineering work, as well as a patent. Projects in these roles have included elements of materials selection, mechanical design, new repair process development, and supply chain deployment using welding/brazing/ceramic coatings, additive design and manufacturing, and digital integration.
Currently, Maud leads global, cross-functional teams to target business challenges at the intersection of design and repair engineering. From 2015-19, she was also the corporate recruiting leader for Virginia Tech for all GE businesses. In this role, she led a multidisciplinary team to hire students from the university.
